MATCH ANALYSIS
First and foremost, the SCG has proven to be a different field than other grounds in Australia. As we have seen that seam and fast paced bowling is not exactly working best and spin seems to be the key. Both teams have three to four very good fast bowlers while they are considered as average in spin bowling with Shadab Khan from Pakistan having taken 10 wickets which is the 10th most in the tournament and New Zealand’s Santner having taken 8 in total. These two bowlers are said to be crucial. Trent Boult and Time Southee conceded a total of 83 runs against England and there will most likely be replication tomorrow. Haris Rauf from Pakistan has been subject to hard hitting by the batsmen. The key lies in the batting order where the toss is important.
New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips has the 8th most runs in the tournament with having scored 195. Kane Williamson is also in good form having scored 61 from 35 balls last game. For Pakistan this is where it gets unpredictable because Babar Azam and M. Rizwan are having poor tournaments but can be game changers on a pitch where the bounce isn’t as firm. The Pakistani middle order has been impressive as of late with Iftikhar Ahmed has made 114 runs, the most of any Pakistani batsmen. Shadab Khan has been very impressive with his 177.27 strike rate and 52 runs off 22 balls against South Africa. The game changer however can be M.Haris who only has played two games with not very high scores but also has the second highest strike rate in the tournament with 203.44
PREDICTION
A match with this much excitement and uncertainty is hard to predict but if there is anything that is sure, it’s that the Pakistani bowling can do wonders, even against the New Zealand batsman so it all relies on if Pakistan can give out a good target. It all depends on how their batting goes!
