Another day and another display of some nerve wrecking cricket is said to be on the deck with this time New Zealand playing against Sri Lanka. Let us focus on analyzing the game at hand.
BATTING POWER OF BOTH TEAMS
New Zealand and Sri Lanka are both strong with the bat. Talking about Sri Lanka in general their batting performance is to be noted vs Australia. There was one high performer in general in Nissanka who scored 40 but off an unconvincing strike rate of 88. Charith Asalanaka salvaged 38 runs for Sri Lanka in 25 balls, helping them to give a decent target. Rajapaksa is the man New Zealand need to fear as we saw his remarkable 71 off 45 balls in the Asia Cup Final. New Zealand on the other hand scored 200 in their first game vs Australia which shows that they are not playing light with the bat. Finn Allen scored a crazy 42 runs off 16 balls with a mad strike rate of 262.50. The other opener Conway made 92 runs in 58 balls as well. This opening partnership is lethal to watch out.
BOWLING POWER
Sri Lanka’s bowling is not too shabby as well seeing how they did well in their previous games. Karunaratne is a decent bowler with wicket taking ability, taking one in his previous game and 2 in the Asia Cup final. Hasaranga is Sri Lanka’s best performing bowler however he did receive the beating of his life in Perth against Australia by Marcus Stoinis conceding 54 runs in just 3 overs. Boult and Southee are the danger men for New Zealand with the new ball taking 5 wickets in total against Australia, showing that they are not fooling around. Mitchell Santner took 3 as well showing that the NZ bowling order is as strong as their batting!
The predictions are simple as it stands. New Zealand’s batting will surely be detrimental and if they bat first they are surely taking the game home.
