“Bologna had a weak start to the season and quickly acquired a new coach. However, Thiago Motta failed to rectify the situation on the spot, neither in terms of play nor results the Rossoblu were impressive, and the head coach had to work under considerable pressure. However, he managed to cope with his task – gradually Bologna got away from the relegation zone and at the moment can already feel safe.
With 19 points the Rossoblu are in 11th place in the table, 10 points ahead of 18th-ranked Sampdoria – such a handicap allows us to be optimistic about the future. However, Bologna can hardly count on anything more than the middle of the table – they are 11 points short of sixth place Roma, and Torino, Fiorentina and Udinese are higher in the table.
In the last round, Bologna lost 0-1 away to Roma, thus suffering their seventh defeat of the season.
ATALANTA
Atalanta started the season very confidently, managing to impose a serious fight for first place on Napoli. However, Gianpiero Gasperini’s side were short-lived, their results gradually eroded and the quality of their performance suffered. There is not much left of the former Atalanta of previous seasons – the team has become, above all, more pragmatic.
At the moment, the Goddess is seventh in the table with 28 points. There are still chances for a ticket to the Champions League, but they are gradually becoming only theoretical – the fourth Inter has six points more, but higher in the table there are also Roma and Lazio, who have their own plans for the first four. In the last round, Atalanta managed a hard-fought 2-2 draw against La Spezia, extending their unbeaten streak to four games.
PREDICTION
Bologna plays much stronger at home than away – four of the five available victories were obtained in the home walls. At the moment, the Rossoblu are in fairly comfortable conditions – there is no risk of getting close to the danger zone, the task of breaking into the European competition is also not necessary, probably the hosts will play boldly and will not sit back in defense, especially since Atalanta is not as formidable as in previous seasons.
The Bergamas have problems defensively, as evidenced by the nine goals conceded in their last four games. It will be next to impossible for the Goddess to stay dry at Renato Dal’Ara. At the same time, Atalanta still have very high-quality players in the attack, Bologna is not known for reliability in defense, it makes sense to count on the exchange of goals.
